Morocco, Key Destination for Belgian Enterprises, Official

Morocco is a key destination for Belgian enterprises, said Cécile Jodogne, Secretary of State for Brussels region in charge of foreign trade.

Jodogne, who will lead an economic Belgian mission to Morocco on April 10-14, told MAP that the Kingdom is a historical trade partner for Belgium and a stable economy in the Maghreb.

The economic mission is organized by “Bruxelles Invest et Export” in partnership notably with the Economic and commercial representation of the Flemish region (FIT) and the Walloon Export and Foreign Investment Agency (AWEX).

For Jodogne, Morocco is an African economic engine which explains the huge number of Belgian enterprises taking part in the mission. “This testifies to the real interest Belgian businessmen take in developing trade partnerships with their Moroccan counterparts,” she said.

The Belgian official, who lauded economic ties between the two countries, noted that the mission will be multisectoral and will focus on the sectors of building and engineering.

The secretary of state said that she wants to formalize this year a partnership between “Maroc Export” and “Bruxelles Invest et Export” in order to establish synergies between the two countries, boost trade and facilitate access of companies to new markets, especially in sub-Saharan Africa.
